Dates: June 27 – July 1, 2016
Location: Mosaic Templars Cultural Center – 501 West 9th Street, Little Rock, Arkansas
In 2016, MPCATA launched its inaugural MPCATA Aviation Career Education (ACE) Academies to meet the growing need of developing a pipeline of talented students seeking careers in aviation and aerospace.
Aviation Career Education (ACE) Academies are nationally recognized programs delivered in collaboration with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), military, commercial and other non-profit organizations. MPCATA programs will continue to build a pipeline of ready talent, leveraging national and local collaborations and partnerships, aligned with educational resources of the Little Rock community and extend throughout the state of Arkansas.
MPCATA ACE Academy students receive academic instruction with emphasis on the practical uses of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics skills. The curriculum is designed with flexibility to include exploratory activities related to both aviation and aerospace. Students also engage in life-skill studies to help guide their career choices. MPCATA ACE Academies will provide students interactive opportunities to engage in the history of aviation, learn the fundamentals of aerodynamics, air traffic control procedures, aerospace technologies and introductions to aviation and aerospace careers. The learning activities are complemented by an active mentorship program, exploratory field trips to aerospace related facilities, meaningful hands-on activities, interaction with professionals and culminate with a life-changing orientation flight.
MPCATA strategic plans include establishing the MPCATA Solo Flight, MPCATA Private Pilot, and the MPCATA Avionics Academies.
